Let's talk a little about 'Balance'

Let's talk a little about 'Balance'

I’ve got a little to say about the common phrase “it’s all about balance” which is a pretty fair statement… but if you’re in need of some pretty radical changes, it’s about time we evened out the past with the present.

For months, years or possibly decades, you’ve been the hypothetical fat kid on the see-saw with no friends to balance with so it’s about time this little chubby kid gets some time in the air! they’ve had enough of being plonked on the ground.

In case my message is lost in terrible analogies, I’m getting at the fact that if you’ve been on the unhealthy side for a long time, it won’t hurt to give up the consistent weekends out, all you can eat buffets and take away lunches for a few months.

When I deal with people that are looking to make incredible changes i’m often met with “oh I want results but I can’t say no to x” or “yeah I know but this was a special occasion” and when I try to challenge such behaviours it’s usually followed by “It’s all about balance”.

Now! Before I get my head torn off for whatever reason I’ll point out that I’m talking specifically for those who have large/time restricted goals. If you’re trying to stay active, in a healthy weight range or exactly the same, there is nothing wrong with balance. I actually highly recommend it.

My suggestion for those who are in a hurry, is to encourage themselves to say no to the ‘unhealthy side of the see-saw’ more frequently until they find themselves closer to their desired body composition.
